PURPOSE: To simplify the structure of a vane-angle controlling apparatus and to omit a hydraulic source used therefore, by cutting a screw in an actuator rod, fitting a gear wheel to the screw, and moving the actuator rod vertically by driving a drive pinion held in mesh with the gear wheel by means of a control motor.
CONSTITUTION: A screw 4a is cut at an upper part of an actuator rod 4, and a gear wheel supported in a freely rotatable manner by means of thrust bearings 23a, 23b is held in mesh with the screw 4a of the actuator rod 4. Further, a pinion 26 is mounted on a turning shaft of a pulse motor 25 which is driven in response to an instruction given from a control unit (not shown), and the pinion 26 and the gear wheel 24 are held in mesh with each other. With such an arrangement, when the pulse motor 25 is turned, the rotation is transmitted from the pinion 26 to the gear wheel 24, and the actuator rod 4 is moved vertically by the guide of the screw 4a, so that the vane angle of an impeller can be varied.
