PURPOSE: To enable continuous production of sawdust charcoal of a desired carbonization degree at a low cost by continuously feeding pieces of cylindrical Ogalite(R) to a heating cylinder by a moving means.
CONSTITUTION: Pieces of cylindrical Ogalite(R) 1 prepared by hot-molding sawdust powder are pushed into a heating cylinder 3 at a low speed of about 4-7cm/ min by a moving means 5 containing an advancing motor (M1), a backing motor (M2) and a screw (S), heated in a reduced state at ≥200°C for about 30min and carbonized by thermal decomposition. Since gaseous components generated by the above-mentioned thermal decomposition are burned with air fed from vent holes 41, the heating cylinder 3 is further heated to advance carbonization. The resultant gases are passed through the interior of a combustion vessel 4 and discharged from a chimney 43.
