PURPOSE: To make an apparatus suitable for crumpling rice straws for preparing a sacred rice-straw rope by setting straw-crumpling rollers crossing a straw path on its upper and lower sides facing each other, rotating intermittently raw rice straws passing through the straw path in the reverse direction, crumpling thereby the rice straws and controlling the stroke in such a way that the part of the straw not to be crumpled is made a U-turn before it enters in the straw-crumpling rollers.
CONSTITUTION: When a motor M is rotated, the first sprocket 23, a chain 25, the second sprocket 27 and the first rotating shaft 24 are successively rotated. A disc 28 is thereby rotated and a connecting rod 34 is moved left and right and a crank arm 36 is vibrated. The crank arm 36 is not completely rotated, but is vibrated in a fan shape and transmits a rotating force every constant time. The rotating force is transmitted to the second rotating shaft 40. The rotation of this rotating shaft 40 is transmitted to straw-crumpling rollers 6 and 8 through a series of gears. Rice straws are crumpled between both these rollers. In addition, the straw-crumpling rollers 6 and 8 are rotated in the reverse direction every constant time. That is, the raw straws 2 are made a U-turn while definite parts 2a of the rear parts are left uncrumpled. Control of the length of this stroke can be performed by shifting a pin B on a scale plate 38 of the disc 28.
