To cultivate a plant and continuously supply water thereto while maintaining air permeability of roots good in an artificial cultivation bed.
The apparatus for cultivation is equipped with a cultivation container 10 comprising supports 30, a fibrous mat 20 as the plant cultivation bed supported on the supports 30, culture soil S arranged thereon and a hanging body 14 for water absorption. The inner lower part of the cultivation container 10 is a water storage part 12. The hanging body 14 for the water absorption is inserted into a cut part 20a and held with the fibrous mat 20. The hanging body 14 for the water absorption is passed through a through-hole 34 and hung into the water storage part 12 to gradually suck up water W stored in the water storage part 12 to the culture soil S and fibrous mat 20 by capillarity. The plurality of through-holes 34 passing from the upper part through a supporting part 32 to the lower part capable of passing the roots of the plant therethrough are uniformly provided in the supporting part 32 forming the top surface part of the supports 30.
