PURPOSE: To make a secondary treatment for decreasing a volume with smaller mandays and efficiently by making an opening of the container downward, in which burnable poison bars are filled, releasing the shelter of its lower part in plural stages and cutting bars taken out by dead load.
CONSTITUTION: First, a sheltering measure 50 is made perfectly sheltered condition, an opening of a filling up container 12 filling in many burnable poison bars BP is made downward and the bars BP are supported by the measure 50. Next, the shutter position of the measure 50 of which movement is regulated at plural stages is moved for one stage. The prescribed number of bars BP is taken out by dead load, positioned by positioning measures 30 and 32, and cut at once and about horizontally by cutting measures 34 and 38 to operate at this position. Continuously, taking out, positioning and cutting are repeated and the treatment of those bard BP ends. Thereafter, the shutter position is moved in order and bars BP can be supplied in turn to the cutting position. Thus, the secondary treatment for decreasing the volume of bars BP cut off from a hold element after the primary treatment for decreasing the volume is efficiently made.
