To carry out the detection of removal operation of a defective weft by a sure and simple constitution in a shuttleless weaving machine equipped with a defective weft removing device for making a defective weft in an opening of a warp in a connected state to a weft on a drum type weft storage device, catching the weft between the storage device and a woven fabric and simultaneously pulling the weft and the defective weft on the storage device so as to remove the defective weft from the opening of the warp.

This apparatus for detecting the completion of defective weft removal of a shuttle-less weaving machine is equipped with an unwinding sensor 1 for detecting a weft W unwound from a storage device 4, inputs a detection signal S1 from the unwinding sensor 1 after pulling by a defective weft removing device 8 is started and outputs a stopping signal S6 to the defective weft removing device 8. When the times of the detection signal S1 reaches a fixed number S5, namely when the weft of fixed length is unwound from the drum of the storage device, the defective weft of the same length is pulled in consequence, to stop pulling operation.
