Title:
APPARATUS FOR DETECTING LEAKAGE FROM STEAM GENERATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS582629
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect the leakage from small heat-transfer pipes in an early stage, by monitoring the radiation from the fluid in each main steam pipe taken out of each steam generator in a pressurized water type atomic power plant by a radiation detector provided in the vicinity of the outside of said pipe.

CONSTITUTION: The main steam pipes 3aW3d are taken out of the steam generators 2aW2d in the pressurized water type atomic power plant. The main steam pipes 3aW3d are connected to an main steam header 4. A steam pipe 12 from the main steam header 4 reaches a turbine 5. The leakage detecting apparatuses 1aW1d are provided in correspondence with the main steam pipes 3aW3d. The apparatuses 1aW1d are provided with radiation detectors 6 and detector signal processing systems 7. The radiation detectors 6 can measure 16N which is yielded by the reaction of 16O and neutrons in a primary coolant regardless of the presence or absensce of the fuel damage. The detectors 6 are provided in the vicinity of the outside of the main steam pipes 3aW3d. The detectors 6 measure the radiation from the 16N in the coolant in the main steam pipes.
