Title:
APPARATUS FOR DIMINISHING UNREACTED MONOMER IN POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0782315
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an apparatus with which the amount of the unreacted monomer(s) remaining in pellets of a polymer, e.g. PE, can be efficiently reduced in a short time by forming a specific conveyor part and a specific irradiation part in a given manner.

CONSTITUTION: The apparatus has a conveyor part comprising a belt conveyor 2 for conveying polymer pellets 8 along a conveyance passageway and an irradiation part 3 which is disposed along the passageway and emits charged-particle beams (e.g electron beams), with which the polymer is irradiated to diminish the unreacted monomer(s) remaining in the polymer. The conveyor 2 is preferably made of a metal, has a mesh structure finer than the pellets 8, and is endless so that the pellets 8 can be continuously fed to the part 3. The irradiation in the part 3 is preferably conducted in an inert-gas atmosphere (e.g. N2) and the conveyor 2, after moving through the conveyance passageway, is preferably passed through the water contained in a water tank 4.
