To provide an apparatus for evaluating a degree of arteriosclerosis capable of precisely evaluating the degree of arteriosclerosis of a patient.
While measuring a blood pressure BP, a pulse wave propagation velocity PWV is calculated based on the pulse wave detected almost simultaneously with the blood pressure measurement, and the measured blood pressure BP and pulse wave propagation velocity PWV are accumulated in a storage device. And, a variation straight line 74 expressing the variation of the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV in relation to the variation of a maximum blood pressure BPSYS during a prescribed period (for instance 90 days) is displayed on a display device based on the accumulated blood pressure BP and pulse wave propagation velocity PWV. The slope of this variation straight line 74 expresses the degree of arteriosclerosis. For example, arteriosclerosis is judged to be progressing when the slope of the variation straight line 74 is large. Accordingly, since a plurality of related lines for correcting the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV to the prescribed blood pressure BP are not used, the degree of arteriosclerosis can be precisely evaluated regardless of the relation between the blood pressure BP and the pulse wave propagation velocity PWV of each patient.
