To provide an apparatus for feeding a yarn and a method for feeding a yarn that can accurately achieve to detect a yarn without malfunction.

An apparatus for feeding a yarn according to the present invention comprises a main body, a yarn feeding reel rotatably connected with the main body, a floating member provided in the yarn feeding reel by magnetically suspended manner to float thereof and in which a guide unit is formed prior to the yarn feeding reel, and at least one sensor corresponding to the floating member. The sensor detects position of the floating member to determine whether an amount of yarn on the yarn feeding reel is enough or not and to maintain an appropriate yarn on the yarn feeding reel. The apparatus can reduce a cost for manufacturing, is hard to breakdown, does not malfunction and can accurately achieve to detect the yarn. The present invention further provides a method for feeding a yarn.
