PURPOSE: To prevent a handle stopper from being moved and separated due to winding operations of a handle under a high load in installing the handle and a handle arm from being folded up during the use in an apparatus for folding up the handle of a spinning reel for fishing.

CONSTITUTION: This apparatus for folding up a handle of a reel for fishing is obtained by pivoting a forked part 3' of a handle arm 3 on a protruding part 2 of a handle stand 1, forming an inner end face (a) of the base part of the forked part and a tip face (b) of the protruding part 2 so as to come into contact in installation, providing a handle stopper 8 urged with a spring 7 on the inside of the forked part of the handle arm 3, fitting a fitting protruding part 11 laterally and protrusively formed from the handle stopper 8 into a hole-shaped engaging part 12 formed in the protruding part 2 of the handle stand 1, forming either or both of fitting surfaces in the fitting parts of the fitting protruding part and engaging part into a pressure contact slope or slopes so as to bring the fitting surface(s) of the fitting parts into mutual pressure contact and engagement, engaging and holding the handle arm 3 in the handle stand 1.
