PURPOSE: To make printing executable in optional color with burdens regarding color conversion on a host computer relieved by a method wherein signals to be sent to a scanner for specifying color are changed in accordance with signals from an operation part for specifying color conversion.
CONSTITUTION: As color conversion mode is specified in an operation part 40, a menu indicating conversions from B to R, from B to G, from R to B, from R to G, from G to R and from G to B is displayed on a display unit 41. In the case where the conversion from R to B is selected by a select key 44, the specification is sent from an encoder 52 to a CPU 51. The CPU 51, upon discerning that the conversion is from R to B, receives a control signal from a print controller 10. If the color to be controlled by that signal is Y, the CPU converts Y into C, consulting to a conversion table 53. Since R contains Y and M, and B contains M and C, R can be converted into B by replacing Y by C. Then a signal for selecting images in C is sent to a scanner 14 and a signal for selecting a developing processor 17 for C is sent to a developing part. As a result, the images in C are formed on a photosensitive drum 12, and C toner is adsorbed with the developing processor 17 for.
