To provide an apparatus for forming an orientation film which can be used for a large substrate.
The apparatus for forming an orientation film includes: an orientation agent supply section; an anilox roll 10 which is disposed below the orientation agent supply section and receives the orientation agent supplied from the orientation agent supply section; a doctor roll 20 which rotates as in contact with the one side of the outer peripheral face of the anilox roll; a printing roll 30 which rotates as in contact with the other side of the outer peripheral face of the anilox roll and has a rugged pattern on its outer peripheral face; and a table 60 which mounts a substrate on its upper face and is disposed to bring the printing roll into contact with the substrate. The peripheral length of the printing roll 30 is 1/n of the substrate length, wherein n is an integer ≥2, and the printing roll 30 is made of a synthetic rubber.
