PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably shorten processing time of a polygonal wood and a polygonal pyramid raw material and to improve accuracy thereof and to improve strength of a composite wood column material by performing simultaneously cutting processing of at least two faces of the outer peripheral face of a material to be processed by means of at least two cutting tools.
SOLUTION: A log 1 is carried into the first cutting means through a group of guide rollers 13 and rollers 14 each with a nail for preventing deflection from occurring and at first, two opposite sides among four sides of a square are simultaneously cut by means of the front two cutters 15 and 15 and then, the remaining two sides are simultaneously cut by means of the back two cutters 16 and 16 to form a tetragonal pyramid body with a square crosssection. This tetragonal pyramid body is carried into the second cutting means arranged on the next stage and each corner part on each diagonal line of a square part existing from the central part in the axial direction to a base is simultaneously cut in parallel by means of four cutters 18, 18, 18 and 18 to form a pyramid- shaped raw material with an octagonal crosssection.
