To provide an apparatus for manufacturing pulverized coals and its method which enable the manufacture of pulverized coals having a particle size distribution suitable for being blown to a blast furnace even when coals of different hardness are crushed at the same time.

The apparatus for manufacturing pulverized coals possesses a plurality of coal hoppers, a belt conveyer conveying the coals discharged from the coal hoppers, a first compounding hopper storing the coals conveyed by the belt conveyer, a second compounding hopper storing the coals discharged from the first compounding hopper, and a crusher crushing the coals discharged from the second compounding hopper. A second belt conveyer conveying the coals is preferably installed between the first compounding hopper and the second compounding hopper. When coals of a plurality of different brands are compounded at a predetermined ratio to be crushed by using the apparatus, an average HGI is detected as a mass average corresponding to the ratio, and crushing is performed by the crushing power set corresponding to the average HGI.
