To improve cutting efficiency of pieces of wood materials and to recover efficiently wood flakes with a good quality in an apparatus for manufacturing the wood flakes which cuts pieces of the wood materials into flakes.

In this apparatus for manufacturing the wood flakes, a pressing body 50 for pinching the pieces of wood materials W between it and the cutting inner peripheral face 35 of a cutting body 25 and pressing them to cutting edges 30, 30, etc., is rotatably provided on the inside of the cutting inner peripheral face 35, and a material pressing face 52 facing the cutting inner peripheral face 35 of the pressing body 50 is formed into a circular arc receding gradually from the cutting inner peripheral face 35 toward the rotating direction of the pressing body 50. A cutting region S1 between the material pressing face 52 and the cutting inner peripheral face 35 is thereby ensured so as to be made narrower in the radial direction of the cutting inner peripheral face 35 and longer in the circumferential direction, to widen a range where the pieces of the wood materials W can be cut under a condition where they are tightly held.
