Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a low cost measuring device with a simple optical system capable of measuring a reflection loss of only an edge face of an optical connecter to be measured with a high measuring limit.

CONSTITUTION: An emitted light from a light source 1 of a Fabry-Perot type laser diode is divided into a measurement light and a reference light. The measurement light is introduced into an optical connecter 4 to be measured connected to a master optical connecter 3 of which distance from a branching point of an optical fiber coupler 2 is regulated with a slightly rough accuracy in advance so that a reflected light reflected at an optical connecter-connecting section and the reference light are combined. A propagation optical path length of the reflected light and reference light is expanded or shortented at an optical fiber expansion/contraction section 8 to be adjusted so that they are brought into interference. The intensity of amplitude of the interference signal is measured so that signals in proportion with the reflection coefficients of the master optical connecter and the optical connecter 4 to be measured are surely obtained, thereby obtaining a reflection loss.
