PURPOSE: To accurately measure the particle size or concn. of a fine particulate material, by sucking and sampling the fine particulate material at equal velocity in a state transported through a transport pipe and adapting the imaging measurement by a microscope and a TV camera to the measurement of the particle size.
CONSTITUTION: In sampling fine powdery coal from a transport pipe 7, control valves 16c, 16a are opened and the opening degree of the valve 16c is adjusted so that the value of the difference pressure measuring device between a sampling pipe 11 and the transport pipe 7 comes to the predetermined value corresponding to the load of a mill. After the finish of adjustment, the the control valve 16a is closed and a control valve 16b is opened and fine powdery coal is sampled by a cyclone type sampling tank 14 with a filter while it is confirmed that the value of the difference pressure measuring device 51 is held to a predetermined value. The fine powdery coal on a turntable is magnified to 40W100 times by a microscope 21 and the magnified image is taken as an image by a TV camera 24.
