PURPOSE: To accurately calculate the vacuum degree of a vacuum pack type heat insulating material, by mounting a displacement sensor for detecting the deformation of the outer packing material of the heat insulating material in the vicinity of the mount part of the heat insulating material provided in a vacuum chamber.
CONSTITUTION: In measuring the vacuum degree of a heat insulating material 5, the heat insulating material 5 is set on the stand 6 in a vacuum chamber 1 at first and the chamber 1 is hermetically closed while an opening and closing valve 2 is opened to evacuate the chamber 1. An outer packing material 5a begins to expand at the point of time when the pressure in the chamber 1 becomes lower than the internal pressure of the heat insulating material 5 but this state can be known by a position display meter 7. The pressure in the chamber 1 is read by a pressure gauge 4 and the vacuum degree of the heat insulating material can be calculated by the pressure value at this time.
