To provide an apparatus for melting and recovering aluminum from automotive engines which enables a plurality of engines to be carried into and out of a melting furnace together with a tray on which the engines are placed and enables the length of time required for melting treatment to be shortened and also to provide a recovery method.

Such a technical means is employed so that the apparatus for melting and recovering aluminum from automotive engines comprises: a perforated tray 2 on which the plurality of engines E can be placed; the melting furnace 1 where the perforated tray 2 can be arranged inside from a carry-in port 11; a first burner 3 and a second burner 4 with which direct heating can be applied toward the respective protruding portions (p) of the engines E by radiating a flare F; a well 5 where a molten aluminum material A from the engines E flows in and can be recovered; and a secondary combustion chamber 6 in which residua contained in the exhaust of the flare F from the inside of the melting furnace 1 can be subjected to afterburning treatment.
