To provide an apparatus and a method for bending a hollow shape, by means of which a hollow shape or a half hollow shape is easily bent with a simple constitution and the deformation of a cross section of the shape caused by bending is little.
The apparatus 10 for bending the hollow shape includes: a first roll 20 and a second roll 21 which are arranged along the delivery direction A of a workpiece 60; and a pushing roll 22 which is a third roll and is arranged on the opposite side of the first roll 20 and the second roll 21 with the workpiece 60 interposed between the rolls 20, 21 and the pushing roll 22 and in the intermediate portion of each roll 20, 21. The third roll 22 is configured movably in the pushing direction B, a core bar 40 is beforehand inserted into the interior of the workpiece 60, the tip face of the core bar 40 is held at a position which is closer to the side of the second roll 21 than the abutting point T1 of the pushing roll 22 where the pushing roll abuts on the workpiece 60 and which is closer to the side of the abutting point T1 than a line connecting respective center points CP of the second roll 21 and the pushing roll 22.
