To provide an apparatus and a method for bending the side of a body panel for vehicles by which the finished shape and the accuracy of the body panel the end part of which is bent are improved and the body panel for vehicles.
The body panel 1 for vehicles is supported from below with a supporting member 4, pressed from above with a pad member 7 and there are a plurality of parts 1A, 1B to be bent in the end parts of the body panel 1. Side bending means 11, 12 provided with punching members 35, 45 are arranged in every part, the punching members 35, 45 are moved in the inward and the outward directions of the body panel 1 by driving means 30, 42 for the punching members the side bending means 11, 12 have and these driving means 30, 42 are independent means which are not mechanically connected to a ram which is a member for lifting and lowering the pad member 7.
