PURPOSE: To prevent development of defect in a casting billet by arranging the first and second storage vessels as connecting through at the lower part in the storage vessel, and also removing foreign matter as floating up at the first storage vessel of the inlet side.
CONSTITUTION: The storage vessel 1, storing molten metal, is divided by a partition wall 5, to arrange the first and the second storage vessels 3, 5 respectively and also connected through at the lower part of the divided storage vessels 3, 5 by the hole 6 formed in the partition wall 5. Further, a heater 7 is arranged on the vessel 1 to keep the metal in the vessel to molten state, and also by calculating a floating speed of the foreign matter in the storage vessel 3 of the inlet side, this speed is set to become faster than a descending speed of the molten metal surface. In this way, the foreign matter is removed as floating up in the first storage vessel 3, and so development of defect in the casting billet, which is drawn from the second storage vessel 4 to cast continuously, is prevented.
