Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for detecting that electronic equipment is exposed to moisture that may damage the electronic equipment and preventing a flow of electric power to the electronic equipment when the moisture level is too high.SOLUTION: The method for controlling electric power to electronic equipment includes: sampling air in the electronic equipment; measuring humidity in the collected air; blocking connection of the electric power to the electronic equipment when the humidity exceeds a threshold value; permitting the connection of the electric power to the electronic equipment when the humidity is lower than the threshold value. The method further includes: measuring the humidity of the ambient air to increase the effectiveness to allow reset of a trip condition; constant sampling of air from within the electronic equipment to assist drying; blocking application of electric power to the electronic equipment until the electronic equipment is fully dried; and cutting off the electric power from a battery for the electronic equipment.SELECTED DRAWING: None
