To provide a method for controlling melting conditions in a plasma melting furnace which prevents a temperature detector from being exhausted by every measurement of temperature based on which melting conditions of a melt are controlled.
Ash is fed into a furnace body 1 and a given voltage is applied between a pair of plasma electrodes 4, 5 to generate a plasma arc A which melts the ash so as to be discharged from a slag outlet 3. The temperature of a weir 11 which has the outlet 3 for molten slag S, is detected by a first temperature detector 13. Based on the detected temperature, a melting condition control unit 17 controls electric power applied between the electrodes 4, 5 through a plasma electric power control unit in an operation control device 9, so that the temperature of the molten slag S falls on an appropriate range.
