To provide an apparatus and a method for correcting a position of a mobile robot capable of exactly correcting a position error which occurs when the mobile robot moves by receiving a position signal notifying a predetermined position of a cleaning area and correcting the present position information of the mobile robot on the basis of pre-stored position information corresponding to the received position signal.
The apparatus for correcting the position of the mobile robot is constituted of: position notifying units 1 to 5 that are installed at a predetermined position of a specific area and generate the position signal indicative of the predetermined position; a position signal detector 10 that is installed at a predetermined position of the mobile robot 20 and detects the position signal; and a control unit that is installed at the predetermined position of the mobile robot 20 and corrects a position of the mobile robot 20 on the basis of pre-stored position information corresponding to the detected position signal.
