Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for cutting off a pipe, by which the pipe can be cut off without distorting the pipe.
SOLUTION: A pyramid shape mandrel 10 is provided so as to be slidably inserted into the inside of a pipe P. A plurality of spreadable blades 20 whose interval can be enlarged and reduced at a definite position according to the sliding distance of the mandrel 10. On the other hand, a clamp 30 is arranged so as to be grippingly fixed along the outer peripheral surface of the pipe. Cutting-off blades 31 are provided on the end portion of the clamp 30. The spreadable blades 20 are forced to spread from the inside of the clamped pipe P by means of the mandrel 10. The pipe P is cut off along the cutting-off blades 31. The cutting-off can be carried out without causing the distortion of the cut-off portion. Burrs, chips, etc. are not produced at all on the inside surface of the pipe.
