To provide an apparatus for detecting overload in an induction motor, the apparatus of which is simply constituted, at a low cost and is reliable, and to provide a method for the apparatus.
The apparatus and the method for detecting overloads in an induction motor involve an induction motor 10, including a phase advance capacitor C and a drive circuit 22 for driving the induction motor 10. The apparatus and the method also involve a voltage-detecting means 24 for detecting the voltage of the induction motor 10 and a voltage fluctuation detecting means 30, that detects prescribed fluctuations in a voltage detected by the voltage- detecting means 24. The voltage-detecting means 24 is designed to detect the voltage EL across the winding of the induction motor 10 or the voltage EC across the phase advance capacitor C.
