To provide an apparatus and a method for evaluating a casting plan, which efficiently design a casting plan for a cast product having various shapes by predicting the result of directional solidification as the whole product.
In the apparatus for evaluating a casting plan, a solidification time calculating part 4 divides a casting model into a plurality of micro elements and calculates the solidification time of the molten metal of each of the micro elements, based on three-dimensional shape data read out from a three-dimensional shape data storing part 2 and on casting conditions input and set by a casting condition setting part 3. After a connecting point indicating part 5 indicates the connecting point of a product and a feeder head, a distance number calculating part 6 calculates a distance number of each of the micro elements. An evaluation element selecting part 7 selects a plurality of evaluation elements inside the product, and a casting plan evaluating part 8 evaluates the casting plan from the relation between the distance number and the solidification time of the evaluation elements.
