To provide an apparatus and a method for forming bores by eyeless sewing needles which perform accurate alignment of the center of a needle material and the optical axis of a laser beam and accurately forming the bore even with a thin needle material.

This method includes: arranging the plurality of needle materials 1 in a row and placing them on a table 21; photographing the base end faces of the plurality of needle materials 1 with a camera 25; obtaining the center position of the needle material by obtaining the needle material 1 of a machining object from the photographed picture; matching the optical axis of a laser from a laser oscillator 26 with the center position of the base end face of the needle material 1 of the machining object; forming a bore 1c having a prescribed depth with the laser; then moving the plurality of needle materials and obtaining needle material 1 of the next machining object among the plurality of needle materials from the picture of the camera; and obtaining the center position of the base end face from the image of the base end face of the needle material and matching the optical axis of the laser from the laser oscillator with the center position of the base end face of the machining object by moving the plurality of needle materials, and forming the bore.
