To provide an apparatus for continuous casting of a metal billet including a horizontal casting mold having an inlet end and an outlet end.

The apparatus includes a feed trough 10 for feeding molten metal to a mold inlet end and a horizontal conveyor 13 for receiving a cast billet from the mold outlet end. A moveable cutting saw 15 is operable to move synchronously with the conveyor for cutting a continuous billet into a predetermined length while supported on the conveyor. While the billet is resiliently supported, the saw mechanism is isolated so as to minimize transmission of low and high frequency vibrations from the cutting and conveying operations to the mold.
