To shorten the monolithic refractory maintenance work of a molten metal container, reduce the monolithic refractory using amount, make an appara tus adaptable to maintenance under a hot condition, and to prolong of monolith ic refractories.
The apparatus for hot maintenance of a molten metal container comprises a disassembling device having a rotary drum 3 having a comminuting type cutting blade, a positioning means disposing the drum 3 in the container (tundish) 8 and movable or tiltable in a vertical direction and/or a width direction of the container 8 and a controller for holding a pressing force during excavating of the drum 3 constant. The apparatus also comprises a repairing device having a blowing nozzle 11 for blowing monolithic refractories, a positioning means disposing the nozzle 11 in the container 8 and movable or tiltable in a vertical direction and/or a width direction of the container, and a controller for maintaining blowing width and height positions of the nozzle 11 constant.
