Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for imparting compression capable of removing a residual stress by imparting compression without causing buckling against an easy buckling direction of a workpiece.
SOLUTION: A connecting portion 5 composed of a convex portion and a concave portion engaging alternately in the end portion, neighboring each other between an upper die 1 and a pad 2, and a lower die 3 and a cushion 4 is provided. Even if the upper die 1 and the pad 2, or the lower die 3 and the cushion 4 are separated or approached, continuity between the longitudinal wall portion consisted of the upper die 1 and the pad 2, and the longitudinal wall portion consisted of the lower die 3 and the cushion 4 is maintained within the realm that the convex-concavo portion of the connecting portion 5 engages each other. A member W0 of hut cross section shape is clamped from both surfaces of the two faces, and then, by contacting the longitudinal wall forming surface to the member W0 successively before and after the compression, buckling of the longitudinal wall portion Wb is prevented and the compression is imparted to the longitudinal wall portion Wb. And, by removing the residual stress of the longitudinal wall portion Wb, the member W0 can be corrected to the ideal shape.
