To provide an apparatus of low pressure casting, which apparatus can surely close a molten metal inlet port communicating a pressurizing chamber with a first molten metal chamber when pressurizing the pressurizing chamber in casting, and further to provide a method of low pressure casting using the same apparatus of low pressure casting.
A through-hole 40a is formed on the bottom plane of a pressurizing pot 40 at the position opposed to the lower end of a stalk 11 to be communicated with a cavity 20b via a gate 20a. A self-acting valve 43 to be moved (driven) by being pushed by the flow of molten metal 2 is provided between the through-hole 40a and the lower end of the stalk 11. The self-acting valve 43 is moved to a communicated position by being pushed by the molten metal 2 from a first molten metal chamber 31 side toward the pressurizing pot 40 side when the inside of the pressurizing pot 40 is not pressurized, and is moved to a communication intercepting position by being pushed by the molten metal 2 from the pressurizing pot 40 side toward the first molten metal chamber 31 side when the inside of the pressurizing pot 40 is pressurized.
