PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus and method for manufacturing the hair of the head for a clay doll which the curled hair is easily made of clay.

CONSTITUTION: Two overlapping plates 13, 14 formed with a plurality of fine holes 13a, 14a are set on an opening part of a cylinder 10 for receiving clay and disposed such that the centers of these fine holes communicate to each other under the condition of being dislocated from each other. A piston 15 for pressing the clay put in the cylinder is fitted to press the clay in the cylinder and extrude the clay out of the fine holes having the centers dislocated from each other in the two places. When the clay in the cylinder is pushed by the piston through these fine holes of two plates having the centers dislocated from each other, the clay is twisted, bent and deformed so that curled non-linear strings of clay are extruded.
