To provide a glass production apparatus capable of vitrifying a glass raw material uniformly in a short time.
In this glass production apparatus 1, a glass raw material 4 formed in a particular shape is allowed to pass through a combustion flame 3 generated by a combustion tube 30 to be heated uniformly and to raise its temperature, and further, is heated at high temperature by arc plasma 2 generated by applying a multiphase alternating voltage to arc electrodes 21, 22, to be thereby vitrified. In this case, the glass production apparatus 1 forms a swirling flow swirling and simultaneously descending along the inner wall of a vitrification processing space 11a by a rotating flow generation means 40. Further, the arc electrodes 21, 22 to which the multiphase alternating voltage is applied are arranged so that a phase difference between the facing electrodes does not become maximum, and the glass raw material 4 is inputted into the vitrification processing space 11a intermittently and synchronously with change of a high-temperature region of the arc plasma 2 by a glass raw material supply means 50.
