To provide a wheel shape measuring apparatus, etc. capable of simply executing shape measurement of wheels by a light cutting method without requiring to find out the diameter centers of the wheels and requiring to change the focus of a camera.
The wheel shape measuring apparatus includes: a laser linear beam irradiation part 13a which is arranged at a predetermined height from rails, and when the passage of wheels 10a, 10b are detected by passage sensors 11a to 12b, applies laser linear beams in a horizontal direction to measurement portions of the wheels 10a, 10b; cameras 15a, 17a which, when the passage of the wheels 10a, 10b is detected, respectively photograph the irradiation portions of the wheels 10a, 10b irradiated with the laser linear beams; an image processing part 18 which processes images of the irradiation portions of the wheels 10a, 10b photographed by the cameras 15a, 17a and corrects distortion based on the irradiation of the laser linear beams in the horizontal direction; and a wheel shape measurement part 19 for measuring predetermined measurement items concerned with the shapes of the wheels 10a, 10b based on the distortion-corrected images.
