To provide an apparatus and a method for reconditioning a foundry sand which can improve the quality of the reconditioned foundry sand by removing a binder adhered to the surface of a waste foundry sand, facilitating a dust collecting treatment of the fine powder of the binder and accelerating the reconditioning speed of the waste foundry sand.
The method for reconditioning the foundry sand comprises the steps of introducing the waste foundry sand via an introducing hopper, rotating an impeller formed internal with blades at a center of the apparatus, simultaneously sending air from an air supply port at the center of the impeller to collide the sand with a polishing drum on the periphery of the impeller, removing the binder adhered to the sand by a friction of the inner surface of the drum, rounding the surface of the reconditioned sand, discharging the sand from a discharge port, and discharging the fine powder of the separated binder from a duct collecting port.
