Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the noise and distortion of a sound signal. CONSTITUTION: The input sound signal is equally divided and distributed to a couple of voltage and control amplifiers(VCA). Each VCA receives an equally divided sound signal current and its gain is controlled with a common control voltage. The outputs of the respective VCAs are put together and applied to the inverted input terminal of an operational amplifier IC2. The gain of each VCA is set to 6 dB and the gain of the operational amplifier is set to -6 dB. The operational amplifier adds the sound signals together at 6 dB and also adds noise and wide-band signals together at 3 dB, so the S/N of the output signal increases to reduce total higher harmonic distortion and cross-modulation distortion.
