To provide an apparatus and a method for reforming glycerin, by which poisoning of a catalyst caused by impurities contained in by-produced glycerin, the deterioration of a catalyst caused by deposition of carbon, and lowering of production efficiency of a valuable gas are suppressed.
The apparatus 1 for reforming glycerin includes: a reforming reactor 2 in which a catalyst is accommodated and a steam reforming reaction is performed between the glycerin and a gas for reaction containing at least steam by using the catalyst so as to reform the glycerin; a gas purifier 9 for purifying hydrogen from a reformed gas generated after the reforming reaction; and reducing gas supply piping 10 for supplying an exhaust gas discharged from the gas purifier 9 to the reforming reactor 2 as a reducing gas.
