Abstract:
To provide an apparatus and a method for removing foreign matter from a vegetable fiber, which enable the effective detection and removal of the foreign matter mixed in the vegetable fiber.SOLUTION: An apparatus for removing foreign matter from a vegetable fiber includes: a tower 2 that comprises a passage 3 onto which the vegetable fiber 40 falls; a foreign matter detector 10 that detects foreign matter 42, mixed in the vegetable fiber 40 becoming a lumpy material 41 and free-falling within the tower 2, by a transmission type sensor 11; and an air injection device 20 that emits a jet of air from an air nozzle 21 corresponding to a position, in which the foreign matter 42 is detected, when the foreign matter 42 is detected in the lumpy material 41 and that blows away the lumpy material 41 of the vegetable fiber 40 with the mixed foreign matter 42 in a direction different from a free-fall direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
