To improve maneuverability of removing an image plate 15 from a protection case 13.
The protection case 13 is inserted from an opening side of the protection case 13 into an insertion section 70 of an image plate removing apparatus 60. The upper end of the image plate 15 is then pressed by a finger so that the finger fits a notch section 84 of a back plate 66 in order to push the image plate 15 into an outlet 78. Meanwhile, a regulation section 80 holds the protection case 13 to regulate discharge of the protection case 13 from the outlet 78 and permits discharge of the image plate 15 pushed into the outlet 78 from the outlet 78. Thus, only the image plate 15 is discharged from the outlet 78 with the protection case 13 remaining within the insertion section 70 and the image plate 15 is removed out of the protection case 13. With such a configuration, the image plate 15 is removed out of the protection case 13 only by a pushing operation to push the image plate 15 into the outlet 78 and maneuverability of removing the image plate 15 out of the protection case 13 is improved.
