Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to sample a large amount of saliva, mixed with no impurities, continuously for a long period from a cow, which secretes the very large amount of the saliva.
CONSTITUTION: A catheter 1 is inserted and made to remain in the parotid of a cow by catheter setting operation. One end 2a of a tube 2 such as a silicon tube is connected to other end 1a of the above described catheter 1. The other end 2b of the tube 2 is connected to a saliva container 4, which is arranged below a floor surface 3, on which the cow stands or lies down. The pressure in the catheter 1 and the tube 2 is made negative based on the difference in height. Thus, the saliva of the cow can be continuously sampled into the saliva container 4.
