Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmission apparatus enabling multiple wavelengths transmission or long-range transmission.
SOLUTION: The signal transmission apparatus is structured by connecting a plurality of subsidiary radio base stations 10a, to a master station via a backbone optical fiber. Here, a radio signal received in a radio base station 10a is converted into a frequency f1, and the radio signal is converted into an optical signal λ1a. Optical signals λ1a, λ1b, λ1c are in the same frequency band λ1. These optical signals are synthesized in a photocoupler 2a, and multiplexed into a backbone fiber 13 via dispersively disposed optical multiplexers 1b. In the master station 14, the optical signal is demultiplexed into each wavelength band. After O/E conversion, the demultiplexed optical signal is separated into mutually different frequencies f1, f2, f3 by a filter 17a.
