To provide a method and system for receiving and distributing currency.

Specifically, a novel apparatus for the inflow and the outflow of a variety of currency is provided. The systems are capable of recycling a variety of currency from multiple countries and multiple denominations. The systems have the added advantage of compact size. A device which receives coins and bills, pays out the coins and bills, and recycles some or all of the received coins and bills as coins and bills to be paid out, is provided with at least one bill processing unit; at least one coin processing unit constituted so as to process bills of greater than four denominations and coins of greater than five denominations; and the volume of the device as a whole is less than eight cubic feet.
