PURPOSE: To prevent the oxidation of an article easy to receive oxidation in the atmosphere at the time of the washing and drying of the article by providing an inert gas supply means, a door and the internal structure partitioning the inside and outside of a tank at the time of the opening of the door.
CONSTITUTION: Inert gas is supplied into a tank 6 in such a state that an upper lid (door) 1 is closed by an inert gas supply means to lower the concn. of oxygen in the tank 6 to predetermined control concn. equal to or less than the explosion limit oxygen concn. of a combustible solvent 5. Subsequently, the article 2 washed in a washing tank is fed into the tank 6 by opening the upper lid 1 while the inert gas is supplied but, at this time, an internal structure consisting of a barrier plate 4 and a moving stand 3 necessarily partition the inside and outside of the tank 6. That is, the moving stand 3 is set to a position A. Next, the article 2 is placed on the moving stand 3 and, after the upper lid 1 is closed, the moving stand 3 is allowed to fall to a predetermined treatment position B to be rinsed with steam. By this constitution, the article 2 easily oxidized in the atmosphere can be prevented from oxidation at the time of washing and drying.
