PURPOSE: To accurately fix a bottle at a predetermined position in a predetermined direction by preventing the shaking, rotation and twisting in left and right directions by the contact with a taper cone and the fixing of a bottom part.
CONSTITUTION: A bottle 10 is continuously transferred by a feed-in apparatus 20 corresponding to a continuous high speed printing process to be grasped and fixed in a bottle grasping apparatus 40 by a bottom part fixing apparatus 50 and a taper cone 60. The bottle 10 is intermittently rotated by 90° by a turret 30 to move through an inspection position B and a feed-out position C provided in succession. The bottle 10 is accurately inspected at the position B by optical machineries 90a, 90b and continuously fed out at the position C by a feed-out apparatus 70. By this method, a stop time sufficient to inspect can be taken while feed-in and feed-out are continuously carried out and the position and direction of the bottle 10 can be accurately kept constant. As a result, a printed character can be accurately inspected at high speed.
