PURPOSE: To obtain an apparatus, capable of being miniaturized, reducing the weight thereof and having a small power consumption at a low cost in relation to an apparatus for preventing paper from fluttering (flapping) applied to a dryer of a paper machine.
CONSTITUTION: Rollers 1 and 1 for preventing fluttering are supported by bearings 7 and 7 by the cantilever method and installed in a state of rotating shafts at right angles to the running direction at ends of the paper side in the central part in a free-running area [the area between (A) and (B) in figure (b)] of the running wet web 3 and the rotating surfaces of the rollers in contact with the paper surface of a wet web 3, which is run in a state thereof pressed with a canvas 4 among many drying cylinders 2 arranged in upper and lower stages and dried during the time. The wet web 3 running on the roller surfaces is brought into contact with the rollers 1 and 1 for preventing the fluttering to apply a tension to both ends of the paper surface. Thereby, the fluttering is prevented by an increase in the tension.
