PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus and process for the solvent pulping and washing of pulp, facilitating the solvent pulping and washing of the pulp and reducing the loss of an alcohol, by disposing first and second steaming vessels and first and second low pressure feeders in specific positions, respectively, and imparting steam to chips from a high pressure feeder.
CONSTITUTION: A chip bin 20 is connected to a first steaming vessel 23 through a low pressure feeder 22, and a second steam feeder 24 is separated from the first steaming vessel 23 through a second low pressure feeder 25. A vertical conduit 32 is disposed between the low pressure feeder 25 and a chip inlet 33, and steam from a medium pressure steam source 35 is introduced into the conduit 32 at an introduction port 34. A vertical conduit 38 extended downward from a chip outlet 37 is connected to a high pressure feeder 11, and the steamed chips are transferred from the high pressure feeder 11 to the top of a digestion tower.
