To provide an apparatus for processing postal matter in which the working efficiency of a worker can be improved and the throughput of which can also be improved and to provide a method for assembling a route.
An apparatus 1 for assembling the route is provided with: a supply part 2 for supplying postal matter; a takeout part 4 for taking out the postal matter on a conveying route 3; a bar code reader 5 for reading a destination bar code of the postal matter; and a divided accumulation part 6 having a plurality of divided pockets 7 lined up to the direction parted from the supply part 2. When the postal matter to be supplied thrice is supplied at the last time, the destination of the postal matter to be accumulated is assigned to the divided pocket 7 parted from the supply part 2 so that the work of supplying the postal matter of the next batch can be performed simultaneously with the work of pulling out the postal matter of the present batch.
